Red book compliant CD software
Using Sonar Producer 8.5 on Windows platform. Hobbyist - NOT professional but want to produce a Redbook compliant CD. I don't think the burning software that came with my PC does that. What's available out there that won't break the bank?

CD Architect is what is used by many, but its not cheap.
I use Nero "BurningROM" which is also Redbook compliant. BurningROM, if you use "disk at once" will also write Disc title, artist and song titles on the CD. It also will write the ISRC code on the disc. Nero will also burn to multiple burners where most, including CD Architect will only burn to one disc at a time. You should be able to pick up the Nero suite for under $50.

But, I also have Nero Multimedia Suite 10 Essentials. I've never used it. I think it came installed on this laptop. I also have a copy of Nero 8 Essentials. That cd came with a Gear Head LightScribe burner. I'll have to do some research. Maybe I have BurningROM.

Nero is not Red Book compliant it is Orange Book complaint for CD's

Take a closer look at the software that came with your computer, midimix. Most generic CD software can create a Red Book audio CD. It may not all the bells 'n whistles that CD Architect has, but those are not necessary.
 All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Sound Forge 11 is a great program to use. It now does Redbook authoring without having to open CD Architect and paste your files into it.
Win 10 Pro x64, 32Gb DDR3 ram, Sonar Platinum, Cubase 9.5, Mackie MCU Pro, Cakewalk VS 100, Roland Octa-Capture, A 800 Pro, Carver M-1.5t amp & C4000 pre amp, various mics, drums and brass instruments. And away we go!

Here's a good article on "Red Book" CDs. It was written in 2009, but remains spot on. http://blog.fixyourmix.co...ook-cd-producer-speak/ Here's the final paragraph from the article (the last sentence will change my settings  ): If you burn your disc using an audio-CD writing program, using a normal CD-R, and using a modern CD Burner, then you’ve got yourself a Red Book disc. I would suggest burning at the slowest speed possible to minimize errors, but other than that you are golden!
