video player for clips, ideally MIDI controllable

Goggle search mostly returns old threads or real VJ software, which is not really what I'm looking for at the moment ...
 
What I'm looking for is a video clip player with a playlist that can be navigated via MIDI commands (start, pause, stop, next would be sufficient, don't need beat sync, timestretch, etc as long I can get a synchronised start of playback).
 
If I can't find a player with MIDI control, I could emulate keystrokes via a MIDI translator (although I already do that for another application and two apps dependent on emulated keystrokes would interfere, so this would mean carrying another PC along).
 
In worst case I could do with a clip player that takes clip names passed as cmd line argument, plays them and exits (but that would be way retro).
 
Playback full screen HD of course ...
 
Any suggestions?
