Coldplay's new one, A Headful of Dreams, is very consistent and strong. Pushes the boundaries of the expected throughout, yet remains listenable and engaging throughout.
What I'm about to say sounds kind of non-pro, but several months ago I read a review in the newspaper that Carly Rae Jepsen's record released this year, Emotion, was a really well put together pop record. Yes, that Carly Rae Jepsen of "Call Me Maybe" fame.
On an impulse, I bought that, even though it's outside of my regular sphere of listening.
My vote for record of the year is Carly Rae Jepsen's Emotion.
If I could someday pull off one song that approached the quality of what Carly Rae and her studio friends put together throughout all 12 of her songs on that record, i could rest on my laurels.
Again, I'm not a pop listening guy, but I appreciate when someone gets it right.
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.
