HoRNet Guitar Kit Released
HoRNet Guitar Kit is a guitar amplifier and cabinet simulator, it also includes a microphone simulator to help you get the same sound you would get when recording a guitar amp. What characterize Guitar Kit is that every one of the three modules is made of physical models. Many guitar amplifier simulators uses some sort of convolved impulse response in the signal path, while this allows to correctly emulate specific units, like specific guitar amp or cabinet, it greatly reduces the freedom you have in building your personal rig since every model is a static “picture” of the emulated unit. Guitar Kit on the other hand using physical models can build many type of sounds letting you choose the tubes for each section of the amplifier, the cabinet speaker, cabinet type, microphone type and placement Each of the thee modules of Guitar Kit can be turned on and off separately so you can create different sounds from the typical guitar sound and also use the cabinet or microphone emulation on different sources. Guitar Kit works in real time without any latency and can be used in a live situation thanks to its low cpu usage even with “high quality” mode enabled (high quality oversampled the processing 8x)
PresetsGuitar Kit comes with twelve presets made to show how the plugin flexibility can achieve some of the most popular distinctive amp sounds, the presets can be used from your host preset browser (for VST and AU hosts only)
Features- Each module can be turned on or off individually.
- Amplifier simulation made by three tube stage (high gain, preamp, power amp).
- Tubes can be chosen between 6 different models for preamp and 6 models for power amp.
- Tone stack section can be chosen between three models or turned off.
- Amp module can work in standard (4x oversampling) or high quality mode (8x oversampling).
- Cabinet can be chosen between open or closed.
- Speaker model can be chosen between4 different models.
- Cabinet resonance is modeled on the specific speaker chosen.
- Microphone model can be chosen between 4 different models.
- Microphone distance from speaker can be freely adjusted.
- Microphone position on the speaker axis can be freely adjusted.
- Frequency response based on microphone position ant type is faithfully modeled.
- Mac OS X (>=10.5 intel only) and Windows support.
- 64-bit compatibility both on Mac and Windows.
- Audio Units, VST, VST3, RTAS and AAX format.

No offense taken I will prepare some audio demo and video too very soon and I bet you'll change your mind

Haven't tried it yet myself, but I will probably give it a whirl at some stage, I don't have high hopes, but then again you can get some pretty awesome freebies and low cost units, so you never know. Be interesting to hear the demo's he comes up with. I'll probably buy it if for no other reason than to support a top notch dude who makes some pretty neat stuff that I use, plus it will be light weight and something I can just throw on a lappy when traveling.

The price (especially) and the promise of low CPU usage makes it mandatory for me to test it.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Its an easy amp sim to use. I'm not sure a real gt player will be all that impressed. For the money its a good deal. I would not trade in my NI Guitar Rig 5 for it. It dose have a future I hope. At present I can't see recommending it unless you want something that is very easy to use. I tried the demo. This is a quick first impression.

I haven't tried it yet, but I admire what hornet tries to do. The guy isn't afraid of nothing. This will be a tough thing to pull off with all of the high quality options out there now.

I played around a bit with the demo, and it's better than I thought it would be. As a guitar player primarily,... choosing a guitar sim is as difficult as choosing a daw. They are all getting very good. I now have 3 full blown versions (S-gear, amplitube 4 and Revalver 4 + a HD500X) and wouldn't mind at all adding a few more. I was able to get some good clean tones quickly...The Vox and Fender Deluxe sounded pretty good to me. I can't say much for the high gain tones, other than I much prefer what I've been using in S-Gear. There isn't any effects, (I used tritik delay and Valhallavintageverb while demoing it) only the amp, speaker and mic. You can switch out the preamp tubes, power amp tubes and speakers...seems like there are about 5 or 6 of each to choose from. You can also adjust the mic distance and move it from cone center to the outer edge. It will go on sale for 50% off at some point, and Saverio will be adding to it for awhile i bet. I'm not planning on getting this one, but I'm impressed. It's better than I thought it would be, and I have supported hornet in the past. His prices and support practises are worthy of praise. Everything it does I already have in a better and deeper amp sim, but if you want a nice simple, cheap amp sim, I would suggest you try the demo and see if you like it. It is getting pretty good reviews at Gearslutz and KVR as Richard mentioned.

Just tried the demo too, and while the presets don't do much for me, with a little time and effort it seems to match up OK with other amp sims (without any FX of course). Unsure whether it's something I want though. Still demoing S-Gear which is sooo nice "out of the box" but much more expensive.

With TH3 Cakewalk Edition coming to SONAR, I'm not sure I see the point. And I love AutoGain Pro. I did pick up Sybilla Pro on this sale, but I haven't compared it to the other 2 deessers that I have yet, so can't speak to its usefulness. I also have GTR3. Is there anything new/unusual in HoRNeT's cab sim that makes it worth the effort and cost?

I'm not sure whether it'll actually happen, but yeah, watching TH3 appear in SONAR would be schaweet! FWIW, I'm passing on Guitar Kit at this point. It seems like a decent choice for tweakers and/or those that stack FX, but I prefer a solid preset as a starting point that includes the whole chain from input to output.

Hi everyone sorry for not having replied here before, but i've just found out this thread... I ask you to wait to judge Guitar Kit with high gains before the next update due in January, I want to tweak the input high pass filter and that will give better dynamics to the amp sound. I also want to add some tubes and tonestack type. I don't think i'll have the time to model other mics or speakers before the update because that takes some time to measure the response (excluding the time it takes to get the speaker or mic itself...) I will also add the ability to choose the preamp tubes number from 1 to 3 to be able to achieve more gain. Keep in mind that the mic section and cabinet section si kept simple at the moment and the tweakability can be vastly improved, some important parameters of the phisical models are hidden now and i'll probably expose them in the future as I've received many request to do so... I'll keep you updated! Thank you for your interest Saverio
