Sonar X1 with daul Presonus Firestudio interfaces

Need some guidance here -  Using Sonar X1 with a single Presonus Firestudio -  no issues (latest WDM driver from Presonus - Windows 10).  All 8 channels visible to X1 and record and playback fine.  When I add the second Firestudio (using daisy chained Firewire interface), the units synchs up fine, both are visible to the Presonus Universal Control software, but X1 does not see Firestudio Unit #2.  In the Audio Preferences section in X1, I still only see the 8 channels available from Unit #1.  So, I cannot add a track beyond #8.   Seems to me that I should see the additional 8 channels from the Firestudio unit #2.  What am I doing wrong???

I'm having the same issues with Win10. I have two Firestudio's. They both work. I also have a Mac Pro, and can see and use both units in Logic 9. In Win10, (latest Win10 updates, 64bit Pro version) Device Manager sees both units, as does Universal Control. I noticed this problem after one of the recent Win10 updates. I also have a copy of Presonus Studio One, which sees both units. In Sonar Platinum, I can only see one unit, and can only get 8 inputs. Both units worked previously in Win10. Since it worked earlier and then stopped, I see no reason to suspect any hardware issues.

So I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I suspect it's some Win10 update issue in conjunction with Sonar. Any help would be appreciated!

I posted a question on this issue on the Presonus site. I think it's a Win 10/Presonus issue. In the Presonus driver utility, Universal Control, both of my Firestudio's show up. However, the WDM drop down only shows 8 WDM channels available. I had never checked it before, since everything worked fine. It seems to me that this may be the issue - for some reason the Win10 Pro 64 bit update 1511 did something that seems to limit the number of WDM channels.

I figured out the problem. You must use the Presonus ASIO drivers, not the WDM drivers. The ASIO drivers will support multiple FireStudio's, and the WDM drivers won't. I got this info from Presonus, and it works. I looked through the FireStudio user manual, and found nothing in it about this.

So once you install the Presonus Universal Control application, it will install both the WDM and ASIO drivers. If you have other ASIO drivers installed, like ASIO4All, it may be a good idea to delete them. Then in Sonar, select the Presonus ASIO drivers, then select all 20 inputs for both devices (the 16 mic inputs and the 2 x 2 SPDIF inputs) and everything should work.

Apparently WDM only supports 8 channels. This may be also be a function of the fact that I was daisy-chaining the two FireStudio's off one Firewire card. I previously used two M-Audio Delta 1010's. Because each one occupies a separate PCI slot, it appears that you then get 8 WDM channels per slot. With daisy-chaining, you only get 8 WDM channels per slot. If you used two separate Firewire cards you may be able to run the WDM drivers.
