Have A Happy Christmas - new original song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4G75d6rWXA

This was written for the monthly songwriting challenge on the forums over at the Two Track Music site, where the challenge was to write a festive song.

I've gone for the cheesiest thing I could come up with, embracing as many Christmas song cliches as I could.

Lyrics:
It’s December, and the festive season’s here
So have a glass of sherry or mulled wine
It’s getting colder, it might even snow
When hands get cold and people’s noses shine

It’s the time that you should spend
with those that you hold dear
My Christmas wish for everyone
Is simple and it’s clear

Have a happy Christmas
And a fabulous new year
Have a happy Christmas
And a fabulous new year
I just hope that everyone
Is surrounded by love and fun
Have a happy christmas
And a fabulous new year

And in the towns, you just can’t miss the lights
Snow displays and Santa’s grotto too
And you will hear the carol singers sing
To wish a happy Christmas to you

It’s the time that you should spend
with those that you hold dear
My Christmas wish for everyone
Is simple and it’s clear

Have a happy Christmas
And a fabulous new year
Have a happy Christmas
And a fabulous new year
I just hope that everyone
Is surrounded by love and fun
Have a happy christmas
And a fabulous new year

Nice song and the mix sounds great in my cans. The kick has a clicky high end attack which seemed a bit annoying but otherwise great!

    Happy Christmas to you too!
I would add harmony on the second part.
Mix sounds good. I would widen the snare out a bit as it is maybe too much attack for this song.
    None of this matters.
    Nice work.

Happy Christmas Kev - great song - a harmony would definitely lift the chorus or a children's choir would probably do it :) I wonder what St Winifrid's School Choir are doing these days?
Joking apart - this is a great Christmas song - they're not easy to write. Cliches are almost compulsory.

I must admit I did think about harmonies, but I do find them tricky to come up with, and so I went without them to have it done before Christmas as last night was my last night that I had free to finish it.

Thanks all for the kind words.

Very nice song. drums were a bit uneffective. Mix was good I believe. Just an idea , introduce rock guitar in the last chorus. Like this it was great.

I like this verry much. Takes me back to the Monkees and Davy Jones.

Not so Cheesy  ... It has that Peter Noone style to it and I was a big Herman's Hermits fan back in the day ....
    Enjoyed it very much!!!!
