DI Questions?

I've been using the Beringer DI100. Two of them, actually. Not very often, though. The other day, I was recording and noticed occasional audible clicks on the recorded tracks that were fed by the DI. I switched to the other DI and found the same thing. I pretty much assumed it was the crappy Beringer product, but the more I thought about it, I found it odd that both units would malfunction the same way. So before I plunk down $ on a new DI, what could I test to rule out other problems? My interface is a Presonus Firestudio Mobile. The Beringer was being powered by the Firestudio's phantom power (vs the battery option). My first option is probably to try it on batteries, but I'd like some other insight. Also, anyone have both the Radial J48 and the Countryman Type 85? Comparisons?

    "Wiggle" the cable at both ends. Could be the jack on your guitar as well....

    Yeh, I wouldn't consider the DI box as being the prime suspect. There are certainly audible differences between the cheap DI's and the "good" ones, but they're more subtle than clicks and pops. I'd also examine the waveforms closely and see if maybe they were being overdriven in places. On some audio interfaces, that can manifest itself as clicks.

    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    I'VE USED BOTH....

    the countryman is about as good as it gets.
    the radial is also about at the top of the list.

    If you're looking for DI recommendations;
    I have a Little Labs Redeye that is my goto DI for guitar.
    I have the Radial 500 series DI, and it has a bit more "internal" noise than the Redeye.
