NAMM meet-up?
We last did this back in 2009 or thereabouts, and a good time was had by all. You don't need to attend NAMM, just be within driving distance of Anaheim that week. All we need is for bapu to leave his credit card on the table when he goes to the restroom, and there will be nachos for everyone.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Hopefully he will leave his phone unlocked on the table too so you can post all kinds of embarrassing crap on his social media accounts. Sadly I cannot leave my phone lying around anywhere these days because I have friends who do this as a matter of honor

Why would Ed need to go to NAMM at all? He owns almost all the plugs you can buy!

I am hoping one of these years to have another work related excuse to be at NAMM. It's been a while.

I've never been to NAMM. Even more sadly, I live an hour and a half from Sweetwater, and have never been to Gearfest either.

I tried to go to NAMM in '09 but I waited in the bar up the street for 6 hours and Bapu never showed. I ended up getting involved with a troupe of Blind Albanian Midget Punch & Judy Shadow Puppet Men, one thing lead to another and the rest is now the subject of a screenplay by the Coen Brothers.

So it's just me and Ed, then? That's gonna make it harder to steal his credit card. Come to think of it, most of the folks who came last time are no longer forum regulars. Three were Cakewalk employees who no longer work there. At least one has passed away (we'll drink a toast to you, Jan). Some have gone to other DAWs, others just couldn't stand our company any longer. Julibee? Come back, all is forgiven.

I can't believe in all the years I lived down in So. Cal. (including working on Katella, the same street as Disneyland!), that I never went... Oh well!

Yeh, I know, dmbaer. I didn't want to speak for you in case you wanted it to be a surprise. OK, so it's Dave, David and Ed. I'll make the reservation.

Never been to one of these ... been wanting to go for fun, and just enjoyment. I'm no less a geek than anyone else! When is this on?
Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

January 21-26. Unfortunately, unlike its European counterpart Musikmesse, NAMM isn't open to the public. You have to be a member of NAMM (mostly music retailers and vendors), an exhibitor, performer, press or an invited guest of one of the above. Despite it being a closed affair, you do see lots of gatecrashers there, especially on Saturday. Some are groupies on the hunt for rock stars to harass, some are wannabe rockstars whose parents have connections. Every exhibitor has a (limited) number of badges to give out to their favorite customers and supporters. Contact a vendor that you've had a long relationship with that's also exhibiting at the show and ask. This year at least one software developer (no, it wasn't Cakewalk) sent out emails offering NAMM badges to their customers. Musical educators and students can get passes, too. There is also an admission fee for non-NAMM members. In the past it was $25, but nowadays it's between $50 and $100 depending on the type of badge.
