My VS-700 set ?

I know there is a hand full of threads regarding updating to the latest windows os, ie: win.10  but frankly I am confused about what is and what isn't working for users.....
 I am currently running the full V studio system with no obvious operating problems with windows 7.
I see there is a thread under the Cakewalk Hardware section titled "Windows 8 Drivers for Cakewalk Hardware Products" and listed there is VS-700 drivers for win. 8  
(Question) Can i update from win. 7 to win. 8 without any V studio functionality loss?
(Question) How can I verify what driver version I am currently using?
 
If this is doable....I have intentions on purchasing an external touch screen monitor to add to my setup (which I cant do under win.7)
I'm just curious to see how other VS-700 users are approaching this driver thing. I've read a lot but still haven't come away with a confident decision. Sorry to beat a dead horse with this posting.   Ken
