Cant here my vocals while recording

Sonar Producers 7
So, i got a new interface, Tascam 1608. drivers are loaded correctly.
For some reason I cannot here myself sing as I record.  I am getting a signal and the vocals are recorded, but I cannot monitor this as it is being done.  Is there a pass through setting in sonar?
Ive had this software for years and know it pretty good, but my new interface had changed something, i am suspecting.

There are many approaches, including turning on the input monitor button on the audio track you're recording.

I have recently posted elsewhere a scenario you might want to consider.

Your tascam should be able to handle this directly.  Make sure you have your mic routed to the headphone output.

Input monitor or "echo" will add latency to the live mix.

The 'Monitor Balance' control is more than likely set all the way around to computer. During recording you need to set it to Input. Headphones need to be plugged into the interface as well.

You could try setting the Monitor Balance control half way around (eg 12 o'clock) then you should hear yourself during recording and the computer on playback.

Do not use input monitoring in your software at all if you are using the Monitor Balance option.
