Vastman cakewalk has been very specific regarding this issue... "and furthermore, we urge you to get rid of all cats before upgrading! Dogs work much better in the modern DAW environment." you can see the performance improvement with Lexington after replacing cats with dogs here
My desktop assistant Spot the cat has been reading this thread and his response has been to give a big sigh like "whatever". Merry Christmas all ya'll. HeyDan

Update! All is well now, I hope. I had a straight forward no-nonsense talk with my cat. Her name is Puscifer and she's got a hearing (and occasionally* an attitude) problem. He brought to my attention that I had, on several occasions, made it very clear that I love my DAW. The problem was she heard me say "I love my dawg", virtually deaf as she is. Needless to say she was furious, not to mention all too eager to pee in all inappropriate places. The solution to this conundrum soon became the target for a piece of fairly short yet fierce negotiation, and pretty soon the two parties came to a mutual/partial agreement. We, Jyri and Puscifer, thusly agree, that Jyri will never ever ever acquire an actual canine or even talk about getting a dog on loan, no matter how "cute" it may be from Jyri's point of view. Moreover, Puscifer agrees to reduce the amount of occasions she molests Jyri while he's at work with demands for more food, play or petting. Puscifer also issued a demand for a better quality kitty litter (like that upper class lazy **** Nobby has in the next door mansion). That demand was, however, not met by Jyri since Puscifer rejected Jyri's counter-proposal for Puscifer to stop bringing half-eaten rodents into the house in exchange for better litter. *) "Occasionally" = like all the time

I left out my stamp pad (anybody remember rubber stamps?) and my cat came into the studio. Before I could stop him, he had laid down some pretty heavy tracks. I tried bleach and OxyClean, but nothing had any real FX. So much for working out of the box; from now on I'll be sure not to bring litter into the studio! Have a purrfect Christmas, everyone.

Hey Noel (what an appropriate name right now), I changed the title so no one at Cakewalk would have a heart attack or become catatonic on Christmas eve... I must say I thought it was a pretty good parody of the "Since I upgraded to [latest update], my car doesn't start" type of threads. And admit it - these posts have been the cat's meow! Actually the title probably should be "Do not open this thread if you are drinking any liquid, unless you want to spew all over your keyboard." "Meow Mix Recall," indeed!!

Thank you Noel and Craig. We are glad she had a marvelous (almost) 16 years with us and is out of her dilemma. Why it's today, will be on our minds for a while, no doubt. I want to remember all the blessings ...... We are toasting her, too, and really appreciating the company of our two cats and Norfolk terrier, Charlie Bear. We wouldn't have missed a day with any of our dog or cat kids over the course of our lives! I have enjoyed the lighthearted banter and fun on this thread, today and thank you all for keeping it above the (fe)line. Michael

I would categorize this thread as being totally free of cattiness, and even better, it has served as a catalyst to catapult us all into a veritable catalog of catchy, feline-oriented humor. Now I think I'll head to my catacombs for a quick catnap before catching up on my next project.
