MIDI Note Duration
I pounded out a drum track on my keyboard into Sonar Platinum. However, I want to make every note the exact same length. I checked Process/Quantize/Resolution Duration, but that seems to be for some other use. How do I change all notes in a MIDI track to, say, 8th notes?

Select the clip and set a duration value in the Event Inspector module in the Control Bar.

Under Views? I see Inspector, and I see Event List, but no Event Inspector. Clicking everywhere... EDIT: Never mind. Found it. It wasn't on my screen. Thanks!

It was brundlefly that showed me this in X3e. It has become a bit less intuitive in SPlat. Look at the top right of the control bar. There is a section where there are vertically-written names. One of them is "Events". There is a knobbly area to it's left. Right click on that and select "Resize Event Inspector Module" and choose "Large". Now go back and click on a MIDI event. You will see the values in the Event Inspector. Select a bunch of MIDI notes, go to the Event Inspector and change Length to, say, 24. All selected notes will become length 24. Once you get the hang of the it, you can change the size to "Small" so it takes up less space. You will need to memorize the abbreviations, though. DO NOT SELECT "Close Event Inspector Module". I just did and it disappeared and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to bring it back!!!

Ah. Found it. Right-click, "Modules", and re-enable "Event Inspector". Phew!

..Oh! Seems you cannot change the values in there anymore. But this works in X3 (I just checked again), but not in Sonar Platinum. Very strange. Sorry, please disregard what i said.

yes.... you can change. I didn't know about this inspector. Thanks for that. After clicking that you will get the fly-out where if you click on the value that becomes editable. So what you have said cannot be disregarded coz they are helpful!!

You could open your recorded clip in PRV and then select all notes. Then, with the smart tool enabled, hold down shift while adjusting the length one of the selected notes. Doing that, all the notes will become the same length of the note that you have changed.

You can do this in Process | Find/Change. 1. Select all the notes you want to fix. 2. In Find/Change screen 1, Click ALL and OK. 3. On the second screen, click All and then in the Duration box, put the desired number of ticks in both the Min and Max boxes and click OK. For example, if you are using 480 clicks per quarter and you want to set everything to sixteenth notes, put 120 in both boxes. If you are using 120 clicks per quarter, use 30 in both boxes for sixteenth notes. It sounds long but really just takes a few seconds.
