Waves abandoinging TDM!?!? What does that mean?

Waves is abandoning TDM?   What does that mean for Cakewalk?  Nothing?

I'm not going to ask what that means for the other Super Expensive option.

It means nothing for Sonar users.

This should give you a general understanding of TDM

RTAS and TDM have essentially been abandoned. It's not that uncommon for programs to stop supporting software no longer deemed "current," e.g., many Windows programs no longer support DirectX.

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

Since we're using SONAR, why do we care what Waves does regarding ProTools support?  ;-)

I am under the impression that if your competition starts to lose support......then that might say something about your support being all that more shored up and important.

It costs money to license TDM from Avid, and it costs money to spend development time on a shrinking market. It's a simple economic decision.

If it means anything at all to SONAR users, it's that those companies are making a prudent financial decision to focus their efforts on those interfaces that we can use. Now if some company announces they're going to abandon VST in favor of AU (e.g. the future of Alchemy), that we can bemoan.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
