Liquid Mix ,Sonar X1 64 bit,WIN 7 64 bit......I WON!!!!!!!!
Hi all,i have a great new for all Liquid Mix\Sonar X1 user to work on WIN 64 bit. After two days of compatibility and stability test i have a right config to work without problems. 1)You need the faboulos JBridge 1.3 2)You need add a famous string to system on regedit to trick the SidSpeed on W7 64 bit too Don't add any DWord but Qword in 64 bit host .(read on Win7 site for the instructions).Restart System. 3)Follow exactly the advices on site to install JBridge (Run as administrator all .exe in JBridge folder) 4)Change your firewire device driver in LEGACY driver.Restart System. 5)Install Liquid Mix SW 3.0 (Run as administrator).Restart System. 6)Run JBridge and scan your vsts bridged (i have only Liquid mix dlls) 7)Add your new folder in Sonar vst scan directory and scan.If you have a freeze of your scan window run tab of services and stop the scan process for two times(Liquid mix mono and stereo),don't worry.Restart Sonar 8)Open Sonar and run Plug ins Manager.Check vst plug ins.In the Liquid mix 64 (mono, stereo)properties select load with JBridge.Restart System. 9)Open Sonar, open two instances of Liquid Mix stereo and Mono ,open the JBridge settings and deselected all voices except "run in existing Auxhost". 10)Restart System 11)Open Sonar and in AUD.ini properties change the Realtimepreroll value at 1,restart Sonar 12) Enjoy this fantastic Focusrite product. I have tested this configuration for two days with a Sonar X1 prj with 24 audio tracks ,16 Liquid mix stereo instance ,4 fx chain preset ,4 Waves CLA plug ins,Reverb and Delay on dedicated busses.Loop on. No drop outs.No glitches. No delay. After all i have a personal consideration. I am a Focusrite customer with Liquid Mix and Saffire Pro 26 i\o.I am a Pro,producer and composer, and i use many brands to work in my and in other studio. I had a great respect for Focusrite but for me it's a shame that a great company had not developed a solution for Sonar 64 bit compatibility problem. When i was tryng to resolve my problems i have read many forums and i had found many bugs with other 64 bit daw like Cubase 64 bit and Ableton. I don't understand this......64 bit is the future of Pro Audio. Ok i hope to help all Liquid Mix owners on 64 bit host. Good luck. Greetings Roby www.myspace.com/grooveinmind

I just use the 64 bit version of Liquid mix. It's a lot easier than all that.

I do not think! You can ask all those who after a single instance of Liquid Mix had an error message of full FireWire bandwidth. It seems very strange that you have used immediately one thing clearly not supported by Focusrite developers. Liquid mix 3.0 no change DAW not supported Sonar 64 bit. Best

I think more information is required in otherwords give us a link, as according to most tech sites I have visited the sidspeed issue has been fixed in Windows 7 as it was an XP issue. Also the fix mentions nothing about adding qwords ???

Maybe were typing about two different things then. I did not read your post as Nomad factory's liquid plugs are 64bit. Sorry about the confusion.

Hi biodiode, there isn't informations or tech site on this trick,it's my work on three months of Liquid Mix test 'couse i can't accept that Focusrite has not developed a working Sonar 64 bit driver. Another problem has the error message of full Firewire bandwidth that appears after the first Liquid Mix instance. After the SidSpeed change in the W7 register, no errors ,that's it. I have used a Qword couse is a 64 bit system,Dword for 32 bit. I just wanted to help those who could not use this awesome stuff in Sonar 64 bit. Now is perfect, that's all. Best Roby

Hey, I'm finally moving to 64bit Win 7...I know this is ancient history but could you be more specific about what this suggestion below means. I've searched the Win 7 site but found nothing specific about this regedit SidSpeed fix. No idea what "a famous string to system" means or adding a Qword in 64bit host...or where in the registry to put it. I've edited registries before but I need more information. (Could you copy and paste the exact entry and its registry location in your response? ) Sorry to be so lame. Every thing else in your description made perfect sense to me. Thanks a lot! "2)You need add a famous string to system on regedit to trick the SidSpeed on W7 64 bit too Don't add any DWord but Qword in 64 bit host .(read on Win7 site for the instructions)."

- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\1394_hc_hw_id\1394_instance_id\Device Parameters
- If the SidSpeed value does not exist in the right pane after you click the Device Parameters subkey in step 2, create it. To do this, point to New on the Edit menu, click DWORD Value, type SidSpeed, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click SidSpeed, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type one of the values that are shown in the following table, and then click OK.
Is this it? I'm a little confused because this is referring to a Win xp fix. Do I just follow this process but click on QWORD Value instead of DWORD Value? Are the values important in SidSpeed? If so, what are they? S400(default?) Thanks again! Dave

Yes the correct value is 2 (s400).I'm working with any problems with this method.Good luck! Roby

Thanks GIM. I'd like you to perform one test though. Please run in 48kHz and temporarily delete (or move) the 44.1kHz emulation files from the folder (I think they are located at C:\ProgramData\Liquid Mix\). Do the Plugins find the emulations now in your projects? Because when I got Liquid Mix to work on Win7 64 @ Sonar 64bit, this was an unsolved problem. In 48kHz mode the LM Plugins still used the 44.1kHz emulation files. Thanks again !

I will replace 48000 emu with awesome 64 bit rendering in Sonar.Best.Roby

Ill have to give Roby this one. Forcing the speed on my FW card the LM was using to 400 let Sonar recognize it in 64 bit X1E. I had one glitch in that the LM would not find the emulations, even though they were placed in the correct location. Running Sonar as administrator cured the issue, and also only 44.1 sampling rate. But it IS a start!!!

Well gotta say that this does make Liquid mix more stable. However apart from the emulation folder issue there is one more to look at. Add an instance of Liquid mix and then remove it, doing this makes Sonar X1 hang for a long time before finally being released. If we can cure this issue I will be a happy man :)

If we are on the Liquid Mix topic, I have one question. Does it have any sens to buy Liquid Mix? There are many good plugins, moreover almost all of us use pretty brast computers, so there is no need to plug external DSP..... Jst wondering because sometimes I can find on local bidding site Liquid Mix 16 for 200$ or Liquid Mix32 for less than 400$. In a fact I have the same question concerning UAD. And second question - Focusrite writes on LM specs that there is latency - so - what (and when) is advantage f using Liquid Mix, UAD or another external DSP which increases overal latency; when we can do the same with just software plugins?

Hi, 1)Yes,have sense absolutely.I have purchased Liquid Mix 3 years ago, when the Focusrite hardware emulations was the top class in the Pro studio, see the credits.Infact their Liquid Preamp based on Sintefex tecnology is in many pro studios and is the same tec on Liquid Mix.2)Your question is a common mistake in Audio forums. The fantastic emulations of Liquid Mix(or any other DSP) must be used in Mixing session that is subsequent from Rec session where latency value is important thing.Liquid Mix must be a great Pro final touch at your mixing sessions.By the way ,there is a great Sonar feature "exclude bus or tracks effects",that resolve any problems during rec session.Best.Roby

The ability to use Focusrite's Liquid Mix DSP with 64 bit X1 is fantastic news, especially considering Focusrite still claim "SONAR 64bit Not Possible".Unfortunately GIM,I dont understand editing the registry enough, even though I did do it ONCE,to stop "core parking",only to HAVE to re-enable it, due to this laptop needing more than the "stock" 2GHZ,to enable Turbo to 2.9GHz,which SONAR demands for clean audio. As mentioned, there are some "used" Liquid Mix units for sale "cheap" from time to time, but until I can FULLY understand GIM's instructions clearly,Im going to hold off. However you deserve a "Medal" GIM,for acheiving something Focusrites "dev" team can't seem to do for SONAR X1 x64 owners.Cheers Dude.

I appreciate this is a very old thread, but in case anyone has installed Sonar X2 64 bit under W7 and is wondering whether their old Liquid Mix 32 will work, the answer is that it seems to be surprisingly straightforward to get it running. No Jbridge needed. And no registry tweaks. This is what worked for me: 1. Install the Firewire legacy drivers (Device Manager, IEE 1394, Update Driver Software, Browse My Computer, Let me choose, then pick the driver with Legacy in the title) 2. Install the Liquid Mix 3.01 drivers (make sure the VST installation is into a directory that Sonar reads), and plug in the Liquid Mix when instructed. Windows may not come up with any notification that it has 'found' the LM. Just keep clicking Next until the installation finishes. 3. Install the 96Khz 1.02 emulations. 4. Open Sonar. (It may hang at the scanning stage, but will either clear eventually or Scan can be stopped using Task Manager.) 5. Open Plug-In Manager. Find Liquid Mix under VST Audio Effects. Click on Plug-In Properties and tick Configure as Synth, then OK. 6. Re-scan VST plug-ins. Liquid Mix should then be available to be inserted as a Soft Synth into the effects bin of any audio track. There are a couple of small issues. 1. Sonar does tend to crash when exiting the project. But providing you've saved first it's not a major problem. 2. Deselecting and then reselecting the LM in Track View produces crackling. (However both Compressor and EQ can be switched in and out within the LM screen itself without a problem.) Hope this helps anyone with an old Liquid Mix that's been gathering dust!

Hi late to the party. How can you get Liquid Mix on more than one track. When I try it just says that it's been disconnected from the firewire port. According to their instructions it should be able to run up to 16 tracks. Thanks,

SOLVED: Running Windows 10 64 bit to run multiple instances of liquid mix 1. use the legacy firewire driver as mentioned above. 2. use jbridge and wrap a bunch of instance of the liquidmix .dll's 3. When inserting into your track: in each instance of the vst check in the settings box of the jbridge wrapper of the vst, the box that says *Run in existing auxhost (per plugin only, require restart)*. You have to do that for each instance that you put into your project.
