ACT and MIDI CC

Hi all and Happy New Year!

Is there any way that an ACT controller be assigned to send MIDI CC info to control a hardware synth on a MIDI track? If Sonar can't do this, is there any plugin available where controls can be assigned CC numbers which can then be automated?

Thanks

Check your controller documentation. The ones I have used typically have assigned knobs and sliders that send common CC's and a way to assign controls to send some other controller messages. The controller messages pass through the MIDI connection to the input of the Sonar MIDI track that is controlling the synth in the same way that a keyboard press sends note-on messages. The synth then receives the message with the data stream it receives from the playing MIDI track out. If your controller is sending on the same channel as the MIDI track input it should just work. If you are using two controllers that are sending on different channels then you would need to meld the input prior to the MIDI track using something like MIDIOx or set the MIDI track to Omni to receive all channels.
