Newbie qn on routing and track inputs/outputs
I have been away from Sonar for several months and it shows. I returned to it this Christmas, only to hit Homer Simpson level issues. Before anyone shouts at me, yes I am trying to figure it out by poring over the manual, the Scott Garrigus Sonar X3 Guide and the various Cakewalk videos. Unfortunately none of the above is telling me (what must be staring at you all in the face) i.e. how to properly assign the inputs and outputs, or else to trouble-shoot them.
1. I created an instrument track (Track 3) in Sonar X3 and using EZ Drummer 2, dropped some drum patterns into Track 3 and hey presto, it works fine and can be heard no problem.
2. I then set up Track 1 as an audio track and armed it. Using my acoustic guitar plugged in via my Roland Octa Capture, I saw the guitar signal input register in Track 1- great. Job almost ready to begin. Unfortunately just as I armed Track 1 and I started playing, I spotted that Audio Track 1 was also recording my Instrument /Track 3 drum patterns. Aggh!.
3. I can't seem to fix this by changing anything in the outputs or inputs to Track 1. I can mute Track 3 (EZ drummer), but that defeats the object of the exercise.
4. Track 1 (Audio) inputs look like this:
5. Track 1 (Audio) outputs look like this:
6. Track 3 (EZ Drummer Instrument/soft synth track) inputs look like this:
7. Track 3 (EZ Drummer Instrument/soft synth) outputs look like this:
8. I am running Windows 8.1, Sonar X3 Professional, a Roland Octa-Capture and ASIO4All drivers. I don't know enough yet about bussing (but will get to that soon), but I think I am obviously doing something ridiculously stupid, in not being able to troubleshoot something as basic as this....
Trust you can read the screenshots OK to see what the issue is. All help and suggestions welcome! Many thanks.
