Virtual Audio Output that can host plugins
Hi there, I am using Ozone 7 Advanced to master some songs I mixed using Sonar. When using Sonar I always add an extra bus after my master bus which contains a monitor/room calibration Ozone preset I created for my HS80Ms in my room. Now I am mastering in Ozone and want to use my calibration preset but I can't have it inside my Ozone standalone session because I am already using the six modules available. I really want to stay away from Sonar at this stage just for the sake of using a different software environment during mastering. So I was wondering if you guys know of a virtual audio output plugin (similar to Virtual Audio Cable) that can host VST plugins? My idea is to route the output from Ozone to the virtual audio output and host my Ozone calibration plugin in that virtual cable application. Then the output of the virtual cable will be connected to my audio card. Any ideas anyone? Hope this makes sense. Let me know please if you know of a virtual cable application with VST hosting capabilities. Thanks and Regards. Jhon

What's wrong with Virtual Audio Cable? The one by DDMF, right? You can use VST's with that. I sometimes use it to run windows media player through ARC and it works fine.

Here is an alternate way of doing it, works for me. I use this method to have Ik Multimedia Arc on Sound Forge and Har-Bal. Use Reaper as a plug-in host. You have to install it with the ReRoute box checked. ReRoute is an ASIO input in reaper that you can send the output of Ozone to. Create one channel in Reaper, set that channel to Record, (no need to actually run the transport), send that channel to the Reaper master, send the Reaper master to your audio interface. Put your EQ VST in the Reaper master effect slot. Send the output of Ozone to Reaper's ReRoute input channel. The best part: Once you have it working, save it as a Reaper project then put a shortcut to that project on your desktop and run it before you start Ozone. Easy.

Hi All, Thank you for your replies! I will give DDMFs VAC a go. Jimbo, I used to work with a very old version of VAC which did not have VST hosting capabilities. I will try this and see how it works. thanks again. Jhon

Hey Jimbo. I am trying to configure one of the audio streams of VAC to work with my M-Audio and it does not work. It comes up with "Error when trying to open audio device" when I select my M_Audio as the output driver. I have tried Direct Sound and Windows Audio modes. When I select ASIO the "DDMF Audio Device' does not appear in the list, so I assume DDMF does not install an ASIO driver. Do you know if this is a limitation of the demo version? Thanks. Jhon

I use VAC to send all of my system audio (music streaming, videos etc) through ARC2. The VST hosting software you need is Pedalboard2. It comes in a 64-bit version. It took me a little time to work out how to set it all up (i.e. which inputs/outputs to select in each app) but I managed it OK.

The problem for me isin't the number of slots (even if it will be great to have more for real !) but when arc engaged ...the gognio meter (imager / corellation phase meter also) take it in considertaion , advnced internal routing should be great !!

Hi, I am using DDMF's Virtual Audio Cable successfully. The problem with the M-Audio driver was that the default sample was set to 24 bits, and the "Share Driver" option was disabled. So far I have tried the demo version which mutes the audio stream for 1 second every few seconds, but other than that all good. Thank you all for the advice. Regards, Jhon

@Jhon: Glad you got it going. It was a bit tricky to set up IIRC. @Zo: To me, there isn't any obvious difference in sound. There is some latency and it's not a problem for me in that I use it only for playback through Windows media player or for Youtube type things in my browser. It's just nice to hear things through the ARC2 plugin.
