POSSIBLE SOLUTION!!!! to Focusrite Pro 40, Win 10 update and VIA 1394 chipset

Guys,
POSSIBLE SOLUTION!!!! to Focusrite Pro 40, Win 10 and VIA 1394 chipset ... (maybe for other software too?)
Hi, my Pro 40 / VIA pcie card was not responding after updating Win 10 but I have a possible solution (pieced together from various sources).

1. Download and install the legacy driver here:
https://download.microsof..._OHCI_LegacyDriver.msi

2. IMPORTANT STEP!!! After installing go to C:\Program Files (x86)\1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)\x64_driver ... Right click on Legacy1394.inf and choose 'install'

3. Install and run Mix Control 3.3 - still available here http://us.focusrite.com/d...saffire-mix-control-33
Seems the extra .inf install step is needed to force the system to use the driver. Not sure about MC 3.4 or 3.7 - system is stable so

I'll stick with that for now.

Good luck and happy new year !!!

Gary

I've been searching for a fix for my pro14 for a good 6 months this looked crazy enough to work but when i right clicked the inf file and clicked install it said "the inf file you selected does not support this method of installation"

Hi Cigadeemus - did you get it working? I forgot to add that a reboot can help too.

Check this thread...http://superuser.com/questions/210943/what-causes-the-inf-file-you-selected-does-not-support-this-method-of-installat

Hope you get there!

Best
