Is there a way to permanently disable Auto Preview in the Media Browser?

I am referring to the feature in the Browser that automatically plays audio files when they are clicked (accessed by clicking the dropdown in the Browser Media Tab > Auto Preview).

I disable this every... freaking... time I open the Media Browser to drag/import files into my project and every... freaking... time I open the Browser to access files it is engaged again.

It drives me apedoodles.

So is there some trick to preventing the clips from auto playing until I tell it to?

And it's not about hearing them (which is even more annoying but that can be handled by muting/removing the preview bus) so much as it is the action of the clips being loaded into the preview player which can cause unwanted actions to occur (like today when I was browsing mp3's and offsampled files that Sonar automatically converted IN the Browser when I would only want that to happen when I actually import the files into the project).

So yeah... I know it's a useful thingamajig and I use it sometimes for browsing loops (rarely) but for the most part it's an annoyance and I know how to turn it back on when I need to.

I just don't know why it constantly turns itself back on.

Possible?

Cheers and thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't think Browser settings persist. For me, the biggest annoyance is that under Views, you have to enable "Show all Files and Folders" every time. Of course I want to see all folders and files...

You could try setting this to zero in AUD.INI:

Mine is at max and I haven't changed it, so this is prolly the default.

I just disabled preview and chose all files/folders with the project I happen to have open.  First I closed/reopened the project and the settings stayed put.  Then I closed/restarted Sonar, opened the same project and the settings stayed as I set them.

So it appears that although these settings don't mark a project dirty, they do persist within a project.

Next, I modified my default project template with these settings and I'm happy to say that they do persist in the project template and propagate properly to projects created from them.

So update your templates and save them even though they won't be marked dirty.

It would be nice to have a global setting, but at least there is a way to deal with these settings
