Trouble with Command Center and Updating Sonar

Hello.  I originally installed Sonar Platinum as a download from CW.  I did a custom install in whcih I specified that Sonar was to be in a folder in the C: (C:/Cakewalk) drive, audio plug-in were to be in a separate folder on the C: drive, and large audio and video tutorial files on a separate drive.

Recently I downloaded and installed the CW Command Center and then tried to update Sonar to the Lexington update.  I used the Command Ceenter to do the update.

Now I have TWO separate and unique installations of Sonar on my C: drive.  When I go to C:/Cakewalk/Sonar Platinum and click on SONARPLT, and then view About Sonar, I get ver. 21.01.00 build 38 (my original installation), and when I go to C:/Program Files/Cakewalk/Sonar Platinum, and click on SONARPLT and view About Sonar, I see ver. 21.11.00 build 25 Lexington (I'm assuming this is the updated version installed using the Command Center).

This is a problem for me (one example, the updated version can't find the Help files); what I want is to update Sonar but keep the original configuration.
1) What do I need to do to get rid of one of the installations?  Do I need to do a clean un-installation of everything, and then re-install from scratch?
2) Is it possible to use the Command Center to update Sonar to a custom configuration?
3) Why did the Command Center not identify the previously installed Sonar?

Note to CW: I am frustrated and disappointed to be asked to take the additional step of downloading and installing this Command Center, and then find the updating of the software go screwy.  Now, instead of using the software, I am cleaning up a mess - a big mess.  I find your downloading and updating system confusing, time-consuming, and in this case fundamentally flawed.  Put me in the "miserable customer experience" column.

It is possible to perform custom installations using the Command Center. To do so, on the Settings page in the Command Center make sure the verbose option is enabled on the options tab and the paths are set to your specifications on the paths page. To get to the Settings page on the Command Center click the gear in the upper right of the Command Center UI.

I strongly recommend, if you intend to install SONAR on your C: (system) drive, let it use the default location for the application.  It is easier to maintain and support. Custom locations for plug-ins and sample are fine. So is a custom location for the application but this usually means a drive other than the system drive. That said, it is your machine and your installation.

It might be easiest to perform a clean reinstall. The instructions are here https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013392/SONAR-2015-Clean-Install-Instructions. You may want to manually remove the extra instance of SONAR in the non-default location too.

Hello.  Thank you SCook for your helpful reply.  Yes, I guess I am now looking at doing a clean un-install and total re-install of Sonar and other CW software I have.
