Where in FX chain goes stereo widener?

Is there a consensus on this?

I bought the Brainworx Stereo Maker in December when it was on sale and have been fiddling with it tonight.  I'm putting it on a mono mix's Master Bus at the END of the FX on the Bus (AFTER Ozone, etc.) and switching back and forth from end to beginning of the Master FX's and not seeing much difference, except that the Stereo Maker does seem to flirt with clipping more at the end.

Unless there is advice otherwise, that issue alone makes me think it should go at the beginning of the chain.  Right?

To me, it sounds best if it's last in the chain. As a practical matter, it seems as if messing with the stereo image before e.g. compression could lead to strange results. I have chosen to compose without the widener and only add it when I'm close to done. I use one provided in Sonar.

I would appreciate hearing if there is a "commonly accepted" place in the FX chain for stereo effects.
