WAV versus REX2 - which is better ?

I use a lots of loops (samples) when working in Sonar X2.  Is there an advantage to WAV format versus RX2 ?  Both seem to work equally as well for me, but wondering if one has some advantages over the other - i.e. quality, holds up better to editing (key changes, splitting, etc.) or other advantages.  Thanks for your thoughts.
