Mobo line in recording mystery

I'm in the process of trying to record some video demos using Camtasia along with Sonar. To capture the system audio in Camtasia, I take a couple of channel outs from the Liquid 56 and run the output into the mobo line in (Camtasia cannot hear ASIO amd the 56 requires ASIO). The line in is configured to record at 44.1k. I am able to record but upon playback, it sounds as if the audio sample rate has changed; the pitch is way lower than the source. The Liquid 56 has digital outs that can exceed 44.1 but the channel outs are just audio. I was able to record the Sonar audio out via the line signal both in Camtasia and Sound Forge. FWIW Sonar is also set to 44.1k. I am missing something. Any ideas?

I do some voice over type videos (Like software training) myself.  I record them using Hypercam without audio.  Then I bring the video into Sonar and record the audio while watching video playback.  Take lanes are great for this because you can just punch in any mistakes.
