Saw them opening for Grand Funk in 1971, Frankfurt Messe.
I had never heard of them. They played well (and loud!), but I was more interested in the girl I was with.
    RIP

Bowie apparently, was good friends with the band. They were having hard times and close to breaking up.... no gigs, no hits, no money.... we've all been there.....  So David wrote All the Young Dudes and Suffragette City. He offered them to Mott.... they went with the Dudes song...and the rest is, as they say..... history.  The band was revived a bit from the success and lasted another several years before finally calling it quits as a band.

Yes. Ian Hunter's book 'Diary of A Rock 'n Roll Star' is a great read. Mick Ralphs started writing songs that Hunter couldn't handle vocally, like 'Can't Get Enough'. That's when he hooked up with Paul Rodgers and formed Bad Company.

See now.... I never knew of the connection between Mott and Bad Co....    It's educational hanging out here.

And yeah... I could never really sing any of the Bad Co songs comfortably. Too high ..... uhhh.......  speaking  in a musical sense of course.

The English family and trees is insane and goes all over the place, and it seems that everyone plays on everyone's album.

The "Man Band" had a map of their area, with musicians names on it instead on the album "Be Good to Yourself At least Once a Day" ... and it is a fun map to look at and see where some folks might have learned their abilities. London is better ... specially if you factor the producer for many Canterbury bands, that had the brother play in many of the albums, who was married to the girl, that had musicians that even went to play for Frank Zappa, and others that went to do imitations of Vangelis ... it's just fun to get into it.

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!
