X2 with Windows 10?

Hi all

I took my PC for a new C drive, instructing the mender to reinstate to Windows 8.1 as Cakewalk aren't recommending X2 with Windows 10. I got my PC home and along with the new drive is Windows 10.

I've tried recording audio at mic/line levels, all seems to work but I've not really had opportunity to put it through its paces.

Has anyone got a good or bad experience of X2 with Windows 10 that may help me decide whether to go back to the store?

All comments appreciated!

Thanks

Dave

If the store didn't do what you told them to you should go back anyway whether X2 is working properly or not. That is unnaceptable. If they cannot restore your system to 8.1 with your files intact then they should refund any labor charges... and maybe knock a few bucks off the price of the drive for wasting your time.

Probably some jag off kid maybe barely above minimum wage being "clever". Had a twerp like that ruin the vintage wiring scheme on an old SG right before a tour making my MONTHS of practice with the volume/tone pots mixing fly right out the window. And since it was a cover band... where the guitarist used that exact, old style wiring scheme many nuances became impossible. Little f*cker.

Sorry... got off topic there. lol

X2 was suited for Windows 8. It might be fine on 10 but I would expect some silliness. You also now cannot turn off Windows updates which can be quite intrusive at the best of times... let alone on a DAW.

Sorry to hear about your SG!
I was hoping to keep the PC offline and avoid all the stuff that comes from MS unless I wanted it...

Thanks for your reply

I wouldn't worry. Windows 10 shouldn't give you any trouble with X2. Your only issue would be audio drivers and apparently those are working. Also Windows 10 wont update while you are running Sonar. You can also set the quiet time for Windows 10 to use for updating. Really there is nothing to fear with Windows 10.

Best
