Waves Abbey Road Plate Reverb

Plate reverbs have been a fixture of recorded music for over 50 years. Abbey Road’s original reverb plates — four EMT 140 units — were first installed in 1957 to complement the fixed reverberation times of the studios’ echo chambers. Waves has now created meticulous models of these stunning and unique-sounding units, individually modeling the harmonic distortion of both the drive and output amps as well as the individual plate/dampener behaviors. You can control the amount of analog noise and hum and select from four original bass cut positions. Crosstalk between the stereo inputs produces a stereo leak effect.

We could tell you that, but we'd be lying.  :-)

While we don't know for sure about this one yet, I'd be shocked if it wasn't very CPU hungry.  The Waves Abbey Road plugs all eat my CPU for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Which is why I use them only sparingly.  Possible exception: RS56, which is a simple EQ.

Speaking of plate reverbs, Nebula users should look into the latest libaries from Cupwise and VNXT.  The audio demos sound mind-blowingly good.

    Cheers,
