reverb on the lead singer

Hello,
I record live bands and I would put reverb on the lead singer of the track.
I do not want to record the effect but simply balencer the singer a little reverb to make it comfortable.
How can I do ?
Thank you
Marc

By default Sonar does not record the FX that are loaded in the FX bin or ProChannel of the track.  When you play the track back, it will go thru the signal path of both in most scenarios however the actual wav file used on the track does not contain the extra effects .

If the vocal signal you are bringing into sonar "already" has reverb applied then there is nothing any DAW software can do at that point to remove it as far as I know.

Discuss more about how you are recording and expecting etc.

If you're using a mixer, you can add reverb to the auxilliary track of the lead vocal and it shouldn't be recorded but heard only.  That's how I do it.  However, some audio interfaces allow this, as well.  You would do well to list your gear.

Hey Marc.  I does depend on how the track is recorded.  When you say record live bands?  You mean at a gig off the mixing console?  If that is the case you will want to grab a direct out (pre fader) of the single track from the front of house.  Most live consoles use reverb as a buss so you should be able to avoid that via this method.

Be the first one who thinks that you can

Hi. You could turn down the volume on the track you are recording (if you have hardware playback /IM). Insert a send on that track to a reverb bus. You should now have reverb to you singer. If you want to print the reverb to track, enable echo input (and PC or FX bin), and turn on the fx you want to hear. All the best.

Good clarifying question Dukewestern. Marc identifying the type of live events and what access you have to the events infrastructure can get you to the place you want to be faster. "Begin with the end in mind" is how they taught me.

    It was simple really !
You have to activate the input echo ...
So I no longer takes mixer for the group recording ...
