Staff view - cannot select a note below the staff
When in the Staff View, right clicking a note supposedly brings up the Note Properties window. But if the note is below the staff (like a low C in a G-clef staff), it will not. Sonar thinks I'm clicking on an empty space and a different window appears (which includes elements: Layout, Regenerate Tablature, ..., etc.) This seems curious because Sonar "knows" I am pointing to a note - the cursor changes from a pencil to an arrow. But the right click fails to open the Note Properties window. Yes, I can move the note up onto the staff, then get the window, then reset the pitch while I in the window. But I'm sick and tired of this. Is there a way to get it to work properly? Using Sonar X2 Studio (X2 build 306 - X64)

I think this was fixed in X3, it certainly is fixed in Platinum Manchester.

I'd have to double-check, but I think this might have been fixed in Platinum along with some other Staff View fixes. In the mean time, you might find it more convenient to jump to the PRV or use the Event Inspector module to view/change properties rather than moving the note.

Well, I'm not thrilled with the prospect of buying the newest version because the current one I'm using is buggy. My normal inclination is to go to another product. But that may likely be worse, and I am more or less happy with and familiar with Sonar, though their support for us MIDI users seems to be a low priority. (I've been on board since using Cakewalk on Windows 3.1, and have progressed up through Home Studio and to X2.) I often use the Event List, but that is awkward - hit return BEFORE you enter a number, then when your done, they scroll the area where you've been working to the bottom of the screen! What's with that? Didn't used to be that weird. Thanks for your responses.

The Event List view would usually be my last choice for editing events. Don't confuse that with the Event Inspector module in the Control Bar to which I was referring. You may need to add it to your Control Bar if it isn't showing.

This was fixed early in Platinum. There was a couple of workarounds for this issue in the X series but I cannot find the thread now. Maybe someone knows where it is. IIRC, one was to put (temporarily)a really low note in the first bar since the issue occurred for the lowest note in the piece. Another was where you grab the note. Try pointing near the edge of the note body, then right click to edit. Sorry I can't remember more clearly but I stopped using staff view way back because of things like this.

Event Inspector! Whoa! How long's that been there? Thank you, Brundlefly. I never saw that until now.

And thank you, Microapp. That works for me, it's easier than moving the note as I have been doing.
