Celemony Feedback and Questions
I received an email from Celemony support and wanted to clarify the "upgrade" question, especially for anyone who upgraded to Editor 2 (or above).
#1 - Installation of version 4 (any version) requires relinquishing your version 2 (any version) activation. Celemony confirmed this is true, so
upgrading to Melodyne 4 Essential will disable Melodyne 2 Editor. Be advised of this, please. I did not specifically ask about "undoing" such a thing if it was decided that it was a mistake.
Unfortunately, I got a response of no clue why the Melodyne 4 Studio demo won't activate, so this leaves questions/concerns that the community could better answer. Because the demo will not activate, I have only tried the "Media Player" and did a system restore to get Editor 2 back. I noticed the demo has a new version, but trying that one yielded the same results.
Other questions I had asked Celemony:
- In Editor 2, an entire song opens in about 12 seconds. I actually used AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" from the Iron Man 2 CD as I know this has a walking tempo and is 40 cents flat. Opening that same file in the Melodyne 4 "Media Player" took around a minute. Celemony admitted it takes "a bit longer, but not too much"... but I observed (at least) 5 times longer.
- Massive tempo question I submitted was replied with, "This is an issue that Cakewalk needs to address. Please contact them."
Specific questions I have on Melodyne 4 Studio (since I cannot run the demo):
- Is anyone seeing the massive load time differences on the same material from Editor 2 (both polyphonic)? I am really hoping this is a "Media Player vs Actual Studio" issue, but have to ask.
- Has anyone done tracking in Studio 4 standalone (i.e. multiple tracks), and can broadcast waves be exported?
- I am assuming that Studio 4 has no host capabilities? From a tracking perspective, I am not sure how capable the stand-alone would be.
