Step Sequencer

Hi,

Is there a possibility to use a midi keyboard or in my case Maschine Mikro to trigger patterns using Sonar's step sequencer? I would like to program a pattern and then use the Maschine to trigger those patterns. Kind of like an arpeggiator but with more possibilities.

Sonar Platinum running on: Intel i7-2600k, ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, Kingston V300 SSD 240GB + OCZ 60GB SSD + Samsung 1TB HDD, 16GB Ram, E-MU 0404 USB

You probably need to use the Matrix view to do this. Set the pattern into a cell and configure the cell to be triggered by a MIDI note.

I'm not sure if that does what I'm after for. I would like it to follow the key or given note and playback the pattern from that note or key. For example: I play A2 and the result is the pattern starting from A2 but if I play B2 the pattern starts from there.

I've never used the Matrix view before. How do I make the cell trigger by a midi note? The cell midi trigger is enabled as the picture shows and tried MIDI learn but nothing happens when I play a note. If I trigger the cell manually it plays.

I'm not an expert myself, so bear with me; I could be wrong...

Firstly, I think step sequencer notes are fixed so the rows will only play the notes they are assigned to. You might have to go back to the Arpeggiator.

On the Midi Learn, I think the tick on the menu item indicates it's still in learn mode. Once a note is learned, a MIDI icon (5 pin din) will appear in the top left of the Matrix cell. Also the menu item will have an asterisk appended to it, i.e. 'MIDI Learn *'.
