**** Z3TA Problem SOLVED (I Think) ****

I've just upgraded to Manchester and curiously, the CCC prompted me to upgrade Z3TA+2 (I'm pretty sure I was running the most recent update)

Anyway, I upgraded it and now on a certain project which contains about 4 instances of Z3TA, 2 of which are pad type sounds keep on dropping notes. The drops aren't consistent - they occur at different points in time whenever I play the project.
The non-pad sounds are fine, no dropped notes at any point.

Anyone seen/heard anything like this?

Thanks

Add: when a chord is involved, ALL the notes in the chord drop out, not just 1 or 2

An undersized MIDI buffer can result in dropped notes. The setting is in the Playback section of Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording

Steve, mine are set to 1024 - exactly the same as they were in Lexington with no dropouts

I figured you probably did not use the default setting. It is the first thing to check off the list. Never tried 4x default myself but I doubt it is the problem. Does freeze make a difference?

Haven't tried freeze yet, next on list.

I've inserted a new instance of Z3, no change, the audio drops out.

Now, it's definitely the audio that's dropping out, not the midi - I can view midi activity in the track when the audio has disappeared.

It's also not confined to the pad sounds, it's happening on one of the ARP patches. this is all from the Factory supplied banks

    Version 2.2.1

Try Factory Content > Pads > Memories XS

Freezing makes no difference, neither does bouncing to track, fast or real time

Audio also drops out when playing from connected keyboard. By playing I mean holding down a sustained chord

i'm still on 2.1 (via steam), it doesn't exhibit this behaviour in s13 (i don't have latest sonar) in fact i have that patch looping over a minute or so of chord changes as i type this... how about the standalone? same symptoms?

btw i'm still on the vst2.4 version... though it now looks like 2.2.x might drop next week - us steam users have been waiting patiently since november(!) for the update, apparently delayed while the beta testers direct customers flag any remaining issues
fyi the steam forum for z3ta+2 is here http://steamcommunity.com/app/241790/discussions/
    good luck!

Well, you kind of pointed me in the right direction but not in the way anyone intended.

I exited sonar and ran the stand alone version.
The GUI opened up along with a message saying something along the lines of "This synth is not authorised yet, please visits the Command Center tom authorise it. Until you do, the sounds will created random blocks of silence"

But I'd only downloaded this version earlier, all authorised through the CCC.

So I reinstalled it again and now it seems fine.

I'll mark it as solved but I don't know why

Thanks for your contributions, Steve & Paul
