    Yikes. That doesn't sound good.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Did you read down to this link?  https://www.thelayoff.com/avid-technology Comments from former employees.

I've always thought that Pro Tools was really over priced especially when you consider the hardware.
I noticed one user comment on being upset at HD users being charged a chunk of money in 2015 just before the layoff.
Yeah, I hope the laid off land on their feet and in good shape. Don't know what to think, maybe it is the management that should be changed.. but I know nothing about what has happened ay AVID. I do know I am very glad I am not a PT HD user.

Edit> WOW, I didn't realize what a big company AVID is, they are in to a lot of areas. Pro Tools looks like it is not even a large part, but IDK. From their website, it looks like they are more into bigger media, newsrooms etc.
This may mean nothing to the world at large, maybe only to those laid off.

Yeah I wasn't aware of how big they were either. Hopefully the employees who got laid off will get absorbed back into the industry in other areas, I should think that they have a good skill set.

Question is if the milkshake is getting smaller, or some one with a very long straw is drinking Avid's milkshake ?
