take lanes/comping

hello everyone, i'm aware of the comping feature in platinum and as with any studio i've ever worked in i hate it, not interested, kills the energy. however, when i'm recording vox tracks there always seems to be things getting recorded on the take lanes, i assume this is part of the comping. using take lanes for guitars are fine but for vox i don't want it. what i am doing is : preferences / record / overwrite.
why am i still getting multiple lanes? this is causing me problems with the last post i made about splitting vox tracks to get rid of anything between phrases. what i've found is after i split the track there is more then one clip buried and i don't know how to get rid of them because when i delete the first lane the track disappears as well.
so, my question is, how do i set up a vox track without adding lanes.
thanks

Uncheck 'Create New Lanes on Overlap' in Record Options.

hi, where are "settings" i've looked at preferences / record / overwrite / lanes, store in single track / deselected create new lanes on overlap/ what i don't understand is when i make one pass and if i click on the take lane icon i will see that the parent track goes down to the take lane and when i remove it the entire track gets deleted, then of course i reverse the delite.
all i want to know is how to set up the track NOT to create take lanes when i play something i don't like then delete it. it's much easier for me to not have to go back and review EVERY time i played on a track. i can see the use for this if i was comping, however, i never, ever do that, it's way too much engineering for me.
can you or anyone please tell me what i'm doing wrong?
    thank you so much.

thank you, however, i did that but did not stop adding lanes.
my big problem is when i'm editing instead of one track now there are multiples that now need to be editted. this takes way too much time and it's tedious as hell.
do you know what i'm doing wrong?
    thanks so much

I mentioned this in another thread because I noticed the same thing when loop recording midi.  There is no way to disable take lanes completely.  It's really a convoluted way of working.  Multiple take lanes can become cumbersome when you are attempting to make edits.

Assuming this was in response to my post about disabling Create New Lanes on Overlap... If the record mode is Overwrite as you mentioned in your original post, SONAR should not create new lanes with that setting disabled, but it will on other modes regardless of that setting because SONAR's take lane model disallows same-lane overlaps. Overwriting eliminates overlaps so everything can be in one lane.

If it isn't working for you, I have to think the project isn't in Overwrite mode as you thought.

thank you all for your help with this, i'm going to contact cakewalk directly and see what they say, there has to be a way to disable something that annoying.

    sorry, i meant "preferences."
but i comp all the time & i do it without ever creating Take Lanes.  each "take" becomes a separate track.  i do this because in the past, i've had awful problems with Take Lanes deleting my audio (but leaving an image of the wave, grayed out).
