Converting Audio To MIDI

The latest e-mail from Cakewalk has a link to "converting audio to MIDI in Sonar".  The tutorial is so fast, after viewing it a couple of times I still don't understand how to do it.  Very poor tutorial.

Hi. You just add a softsynth to your project, and drag an(y) audio file over to the MIDI track. Instant MIDI conversion
    All the best.

But do not do this too fast with different clips. One day I was moving some audio clips between tracks and have noticed that is going extremely slow, also my Sonar has crashed several times. I have then realized that instead of collecting required clips on an audio track, I am collecting them on MIDI track. That is calling Melodyne in background, and I guess my 2G RAM was filled quick

When I drag a wave to a midi track it renders and is usable BUT just draws as a straight line rather than actual midi notes.

    Anyone else have this ?

Try to use melodic algorithm instead of percussive.

Dont know if Im being daft guys but when I drag the wav, how do I tell Sonar/Melodyne I want to use a different algorithm.

What I did was load the VST version and then made the change there. Apologies as I don't have it front of me so can't tell you exactly where it was in the plug-in.
