Improved click options (6/8, please!)

Would love it if Sonar's metronome could represent 6/8 in the way I think most musicians experience it, in 2.

As it currently works, if I change the time signature to 6/8 (or 9/8, 12/8, etc) , I don't have the ability to just hear click on beats 1 and 4 - having a click on every 8th is pretty restrictive at faster tempos. To get a pulse on 1 and 4, I have to instead work in a duple meter and do everything in triplets. This is confusing when it comes to quantizing and such, but the real trouble comes if I want a printed score. Then it's a mess.

It would at least be workable if the metronome allowed beat 'superdivisions' where it currently allows me to select the subdivision - we just need integer options greater than 1, so I could ask for a click every 3 8th notes.

Thanks for considering

I like the constant eight clicks (depending on what I'm doing).
What you can do though is just make your own click track with a cowbell sound or something an programme EXACTLY what beats you want to hear? I do that if I'm using poly-time so I can superimpose a 7/8 click on top of a 4/4 beat or whatever.

I agree.  There are some really flexible implementations that would be nice to have in Sonar.

Outside of 4/4 I find the metronome pretty worthless.  I usually end up creating my own using TTS-1 and MIDI groove clip(s).  It doesn't take too long get a library of these available in the browser.

Some other DAWs (Digital Performer comes to mind) offer up the ability to set the metronome pulse to whatever simple or compound value you desire, without the need to make up your own "custom" metronome. That would certainly be welcome in Sonar!

Agreed - in the meantime, I usually have Track Templates set up for every drum kit I put together, with multiple outs and buses and all that - and they all also include a 2nd midi track pointing to the drum kit, and I just loop whatever kind of click I desire - changing it as needed and it can be muted or deleted without affecting anything else.  Super simple.

The above being said, I certainly would like to see this feature built into Sonar too.
