MBox 2 pro anyone?

Just saw a used one for a good price, but the drivers do not smell very fresh. Anyone using it with Sonar? Is the ASIO driver ok?

I have an Mbox 2 Mini and use it with Sonar on my Win7 machine.  It will not work with USB3 and I am not sure how well it cooperates with Win10 (allegedly it is compatible but without specific drivers.)

    Hey Dave,
Do you use it in Sonar with the ASIO driver or ASIO4ALL?
Based on other reports, it definitely seems to work with Windows 10 but I want a solution with proper ASIO support.

    Thanks

If it's super, super cheap, and all you can get, then sure.  But they are quite poor in terms of converters/sound quality, when compared to any budget interface from the last few years.

The supreme irony is that thousands of Pro Tools users were sold on these as they were the "official" interface in that given price range.  Their crappiness became apparent when users upgraded to the MBox3 and suddenly noticed the blanket lifted from their mixes.   It's actually quite shocking to hear an A/B shootout between the two boxes.  We're not talking a subtle difference here.

I honestly wouldn't take an MBox2 if it was offered for free.  Just about any $99 interface nowadays runs rings around it soundwise.

I am looking at an MBox 2 Pro, it is supposed to have Focusrite preamps. Will look more into the converters - I am not desperate right now.

I use it with ASIO drivers, but only under Win7.  My Win10 rig only has USB3.0 so I can't use it on that one.  I would avoid ASIO4ALL at all costs (no pun intended.)
