newb midi problem 201

Ok, load session drummer, load a set, get these patches from groove monkey (f3 sounds great) move them to my project in an open session drummer lane.  either nothing or two notes.  What am I missing.  I have spent the entire week waiting to do drum traks.  This whole midi drum thing seems impossible for my brain.  I really don't know what at this point I am doing wrong.  I thought I had covered the bases.  I see the PRV but it doesn't play.

also, step sequencer doesn't work with session drummer?  You know I am going to have to upgrade just to keep asking stupid questions.

now we have noise, obviously you have to load the midi sounds into the last track of the session drummer set and then move it to near the top.  Learning as we go

why do some clips play the full clip and others  just two or three notes of the groove?

Regarding your last post, you might need to increase your MIDI Prepare Using buffer to 500ms if it's at the more recent default of 250. Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording.

thanks going to the movie with wife and daughter.  I just upgraded.  150$ to be in the club, small price to pay to keep me motivated to work under stress 60 hours a week!  thanks and thanks- I will try that when I get home.

If you pull in MIDI from another source, it can be highly possible that those MIDI notes are not mapped to Session Drummer keys with actual sounds. A quick check is to run the mouse up/down the piano keys on the left in PRV. They should fire off kit pieces as you go (and some will not). In that situation, PRV notes on piano keys with no firing sound can be moved the easiest by:
    1. Click the piano key on the left which will select all notes in that row (for ones not firing).
    2. Hold the Shift key, and click drag those PRV notes to an appropriate row (holding shift while dragging prevents you from accidentally changing the timing as you move them). Again, the key you drag them too should fire as you pass over them.
There are other methods to achieve the above, but to start out, try that one.
