Style dials have vanished!
Not sure exactly when this happened, but my style dials have vanished, (space etc.), including the 5 new ones that were added in the update in Nov or Dec. Any ideas how I can re download them?

They are not a separate download. The plug-ins are installed as part of the SONAR core. If the files are actually missing from your PC, rerunning the SONAR installer should get them back. If you are using the Command Center, rollback and reinstall the current version. While I have no idea what would cause the plug-ins to disappear, a VST reset might fix the problem too.

Thanks! I can't remember which version of Sonar first had the style dials, so if you can remind me I'll roll back to that one.

Same issue here, and also some rapture session sounds won't load due to missing .sfz files.

Did you try Scook's suggestions? I'd already tried resetting plugins, and reinstalling Sonar, but still no style dials. Still looking for a solution!

AAARGHHHH! Done a 'clean uninstall' of Sonar (following instructions on the website), got everything reinstalled, up and running again............BUT...............still no style dials AND now can't load FX!! For example, load Sonitus reverb, all looks OK and appears to function as it always did, but can't hear the applied effect. What the hell have I done?? Someone, please help!?

I think you probably need to reach out to Cakewalk Support. They'll sort it one way or another

Did we ever get a resolution on the style dial stuff? I just updated to Manchester and have yet to see them appear. Where should these be found in the file system? If they are ProChannel modules, I'd kinda expect to see them in something like... C:\Music\Plugins\Shared Utilities\Internal There are some things that look kinda odd. Like a collection of directories prepended with "St" like... StBoost StPX64 StTL64 StVX64 The graphics in the resources folders suggested that they are the old Boost11, Percussion Strip, Tube Leveler and Vocal Strip, but they have different dll's. That and...I don't see them appear in the list of ProChannel modules. Are they related to the style dial stuff...and if not...what are they?

Are you looking in the right place? The Style Dials are at the very end of the list of Pro Channel plug-ins that you access by right-clicking on an empty space in the Pro Channel. I can access them in Manchester, but when they first appeared, it took me a while before I figured out where to find them.

(I had previously been on Gloucester 21.6.00.25, when I updated to Manchester.) There are 17 modules listed for insert in ProChannel when there is nothing but the Quad EQ present. This includes the "not included in the box" stuff like Concrete Limiter, VFX Delay, PC-2A variants etc...but no Style Dials. Note that the ProChannel list doesn't have a scroll bar on the side suggesting that there are other modules that aren't visible in the list.

There is no scroll bar for the PC module selector. If the list does not fit, there are arrows at the top and bottom of the list.

Is the VST scanner set to automatic background scan or scan on start up?

Automatic Background Scan I tried just hitting the scan button...but it didn't turn up anything different. Doing the scan on startup didn't change anything either. I'm resisting doing a full reset.

I got my style dials back! The issue was that I'd compressed the files on my hard drive to save space, but have now decompressed, and the style dials work as expected.

Going back to one of my earlier questions... Where should these be found in the file system? It would be helpful to see if this is just a consequence of a VST scan not running correctly...or whether the dll's responsible for the Style Dials appearance are just plain missing.

Your description of the contents of "...Shared Utilities\Internal" folder seems correct albeit in an unusual location. The default for the PC files is "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal."

Hmm... The folder discrepancy doesn't surprise me...as it reflects a decision I made (many) years ago to keep all of my music related applications under C:\Music rather than the massive unrelated heap that is C:\Program Files...which became C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86) when 64 bit executables came along. That decision has led to an unsupportable level of added complexity in recent years. With that in mind though, I had already looked in... C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\ For a Shared Utilities directory and found none. Let me be a bit more direct then... What dll's, if any, are responsible for the Style Dials? (...and please...don't take off on a tangent about the non-standard installation. That won't be helpful.)

Hi. IRRC the plugins used by the SD are Boost 11, PX64 (Percussion Strip), TL64 (Tube Leveler) and VX64 (Vocal Strip). All the best.

That would strongly suggest that the new Shared Utilities directories I'm seeing... StBoost (Boost11) StPX64 (Percussion Strip) StTL64 (Tube Leveler) StVX64 (Vocal Strip) ...are the brains behind the Style Dial implementations...but I'm not seeing anything for the 8 individual UI's that should be presented. I'll have to try a full reset rescan and see what that scares up.

The Style Dials defaults to (on my laptop) C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR Platinum\Style Dial FX. The Panipulator is under Boz Digital Labs ProChannel Collection in CCC, or on your products page at cakewalk.com, in case you did not download / install it yet. All the best.

Well...I can't speak for the OP...but I've found my problem. It appears that the "front door" for Style Dial FX (on my system) is in... C:\Music\Applications\Cakewalk\SonarData\SONAR Platinum\Style Dial FX ...it was in... C:\Music\Applications\Cakewalk\SonarData\Style Dial FX ...but it couldn't be found there. Most everything else in this directory pile is located via registry entries (see Preferences/File/Folder Locations). This one is apparently hard coded (as I rather expect new ones going forward will be).
