Convert Flac to Wave

What software is good to use to do this? What I want to do is export a track to flac format and zip it and send it via email. The recipient unzip and convert to Wave and import into Sonar. Is this doable? As I understand it there will be no los of data.

i use a free program called freac... works well for most any conversion.
i don't think you'll save a lot going that conversion route, tho... FLAC is a compressed file so zipping it won't do all that much... I would just render the track to wav, put it in your Dropbox, then send your friend the link to that file that he can download.

It's really good at lots of things, including conversion.

Sonar supports playing flac files doesn't it? Saying that though, from reading this thread,
    http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3362884
is the reason people stick with wav format when dealing with files is because the saving on the hard drive will be at he cost of higher CPU overhead when playing flac?

There are some disadvantages to living in an all-FLAC world. For example I would LOVE to be wrong about this, but it seems there is no way for sustain loop metadata to be embedded in FLAC files (even though you can loop a FLAC file when treated as a wavetable).

I prefer to stay with WAVs for the same reason that I don't zip all the files on my hard drive. I work with the native format whenever possible. When I want to archive something or send it over a network, I zip it.

hi, here are many programs can meet your needs, recently i have been studying convert audio formats so maybe i can give you some suggestions, first recommendation winx is , it is really famous in recent years and their production is useful too, but i think it is not suitable for newbie for its complex operation. As for that, i think is better because it is a user-friendly production, anyway, it's up to you, i usually convert FLAC to ALAC for better USAGE, you also can try it, of course, WAV is more popular and you can convert FLAC to WAV

ALAC is just the Apple version no? So compatability between two diffrent platforms. I have no idea if Mac's support FLAC. I know Microsoft don't in their own players (maybe on windows 10?).

Where I can I use 0 compression FLAC to listen to music on my FiiO player. It's about 1:2 ratio that way, so smaller however I imagine a little bit of compression wouldn't hurt.

Using WAV/AIFF/W64 etc. is also a good idea when working with source material though.

I doubt zip would do much to the file. SONAR can import flac files and converts them during the import process to wav files. There is no need to convert flac to wave before importing into SONAR.
