Music score video -- chorus and orchestra

Working on getting the output from Sonar Platinum into a score-reading video using Sony Vegas Pro.   Latest effort here.

Wov, great song. Mix was good. I like classical so this was a treat.

You wouldn't know it from my songs, but I am a great lover of "classical" music - and really enjoy early liturgical music. I very much like what you have so far with this piece - especially the F# section near the end of the video.

    Two questions:
    1. Does your music get performed?
    2. Do you wish a critique of the music?

What a pleasure to get to read along with the score as I listen, thank you! (Next time include bar numbers! :-))

Much too thick on the reverb for the wind intro, and maybe a bit much for all of it, hard to hear some of the counterpoint.

This is a nice piece. I assume it's part of a bigger work, so I'm not going to make an issue out of the fact that it just sort of stops dead at the end. Also, I don't think the pizz is motivated enough. My initial reaction to the pizz was "huh? how come?". Early in the choral section I would make a couple restatements of the theme a little more obvious so we can latch onto it. I started to type that you weren't developing the theme enough, but when I listened a second time I realized you were, but it was hard to make out.

My other thought was that for all the activity in the chorus, there's not a lot of harmonic movement, and what there is occasionally feels unmotivated. The switch to minor at bar -- oops, at 2:22 -- is nice, but again feels a bit out of the blue.

A fun way to spend part of my Saturday morning, thanks!

I would like to hear more of everything. All the sections could be longer than what they are now - not so much new development, but maybe simple restatement. It is very beautiful, and so should last longer.

I wonder if the scored key change away from D major at 1:10 is really needed. Because of the transitional function of the following material, maybe accidentals would suffice until the Salve Radix.

I detect a stylistic shift that occurs at the Salve Radix. What went before seems firmly rooted in the baroque/classical, but the Salve strikes me as being more modern. I am reminded of Faure.

Like jkoseattle, the shift to minor at 2:22 struck me, but I think it can work as is - especially in view of its style. If you did want to lessen the "shock", maybe hitting the shift a bit more softly with the high winds would do it.

As to the mix, I think the vocal levels could be brought up a bit.
