Shady Grove (trad.) - mix feedback?

Hi,
Here's an attempt at the old trad. song Shady Grove.  Lots of bluegrass type instrumentation and I'd appreciate some fresh ears and feedback on the arrangement and mix.  I still need to clean the ending a bit.

Thanks folks

I think this sounds pretty great, actually. Since you asked for fresh ears, the lead vocal could come up just a tad, and I'd try panning the BG vocals to maybe 10-15% to separate them from the lead. I like how the instruments are panned, can't decide if it's too severe or not. Other than that, you're done.

Thanks for the helpful comments - appreciated. I also noticed I had some headroom so I increased the gain on updated mix version.

Cheers,

wicker1000,

Nice set of tracks with good instrumentation.  Pretty good singing too.

To me it sounds like the vocalists are too far from the microphone, very much like a mono track recording where one microphone is having to pick up the instruments and the singers.

I know this song well!!! You guys do a really nice job here.

I'd also vote on bringing the vocals up, actually, more than a little. You might also take the bass down a tad, particularly when the vocals are being featured.

Great pickin' and the accordion? is a nice add.

cheers,
-Tom
