Is the Waves SSL 4000 collection

really worth the money? I mean is it not just another console emulation with a nice comp and eq? It's still on sale for $299. Is it really worth the original price? I missed previous sales on the SSL due to one reason or another and it looks great but how great. The original price is crazy expensive. I would like to have it, but it may just be GAS talking.

it's a solid bundle , i would go duende if i was you , but going waves ssl is not a mistake at all .....

You will cover 80 % of a regular mix needs when it comes to dynmaics and eq's

The key point also is that since it's quite old , the cpu hit is super low with is also some that you'll have to take in consideration when you will be thinking about channels trsip stuff (in fact even the duende is low) versus last plugin that are usually cpu heavy .

For sale  (PM me) : transfert ilok included

The SSL bundle is Waves' crown jewel, their finest achievement.  At least, that's the opinion of many pros who have used it for years.  If you're curious about whether its worth the price, why not download the demo?  It should be immediately obvious to you how it compares with similar tools.

In my experience, no other SSL emulation matches Waves' snap and punch.  Their may be some that sound more open and transparent, particularly on isolated tracks or sparse mixes, but in a modern dense mix the Waves plugins may help gel things together better.  Try it yourself and see, as results will vary according to your tastes and material.

    Cheers,
    Eddie

Thanks for your feedback. I downloaded the demo and tried it on several tracks in a mix and I like it. I think for $238.49 at AudioDeluxe is a good price.

It's made my mixes better, in large part, because it forced me to really listen since there is no feedback in the GUI except for the lights on the Gate/Expander. I also really like the sound that each channel provides.
