Replacement for Perfect Space

So, somewhere along the line, Perfect Space is no longer part of my SONAR plug in arsenal.  Not that I loved it but I do have a ton of speaker IRs that are quite good with which I used to use perfect space.

My questions:

1) Is perfect space gone?
2) Did the bakers replace it with another tool that can load 3rd party IRs?

I own and use ALTIVERB 7 (overkill for the stated needs) and am trying to avoid using it just for speaker cab IRs.  I can purchase REcabinets product for this use but was wondering if there would be a free method for this?

Thanks,
Jim

Rematrix Solo allows you to import IRs. I have Rematrix so I haven't used the solo version ...

You can also still use PerfectSpace if you'd like by installing it from a previous version of SONAR. Just do an advanced install and remove all the check marks in the item list except PerfectSpace.

Thank you Scott... so do you know what version of SONAR was the last to include PERFECT SPACE, anyone?

According to this thread Perfect Space was available at least between Sonar 8.0 and Sonar X3.

PerfectSpace and Rematrix Solo handle IR's differently. They definitely do not sound the same. PerfectSpace seems to localize the effect of the IR based on the panning of the incoming signal, whereas ReMatrix Solo does something a little different. Which one you want really depends on the IR and effect you are going for. In summary, I still use both...

Good input.  I couldn't find ReMatrix so I looked it up.  It appears to be part of PRO CHANNEL which I NEVER use (as a matter of fact, I wish there was a way to not include it in the base product).

So, perhaps now, I will check out ReMatrix and see how it does loading in the IRs of guitar and bass cabinets that I like.

Thanks again for all your help,
Jim

I have found Melda Mmultibandconvolution to be a good replacement for Perfect Space. One big advantage is its true stereo. Perfect Space wasn't. Another feature is it can use any IR simply and easily. Its highly configurable.

I upgraded from Perfect Space to Pristine Space a long time ago, but sometimes Perfect Space was, well... perfect. Quicker to set up, lighter on the CPU, what's not to like. These two were my goto convolution reverb.

This past winter I picked up Reverberate 2, and overall I do like it better. I am still learning, so I still use the Voxengo plugs when I am in a hurry. But I really like Reverberate 2, and I suggest, to any that ask, that they download the demo and take it for a spin...

Wouldn't this be a possible option? It's even by the perfectspace vendor.

Haven't used it though.

Have you tried the IR cabinet in TH2 Producer? Like REMatrix Solo, the IRs must be imported into the plug-in. Unlike REMatrix Solo, the IRs can be organized into groups.

First hit when searching for "ir vst cabinet"
NadIR - A Free Impluse Response Loader Released by Ignite Amps. I recall trying some of the plug-ins a while back. They were OK. Don't remember this one though.

ReMatrix Solo is part of ProChannel, but if you upgrade to the full version ReMatrix, it's just a standard VST.

That said, the upgrade ain't cheap ($189 in the CW store).

There was a group buy last September where the full version went for $99.   They might do it again, so maybe keep your eyes peeled for that.

There's also Reverberate 2, which costs about $116 USD (80 GBP).

The full REmatrix is what you want.  Great reverb, convolution and algorithmic.

The Manny Marroquin reverb from Waves is a convolution reverb that sounds terrific.  I got it when it was on sale for $29, though it normally costs $99.  You can use your own IR's with this if you don't like what's offered.

All the best,
Lynn

Re: Replacement for Perfect Space 2016/02/11 18:29:26 (permalink)
So, I found and tried RE Matrix solo in the pro channel (I really didn't know it was in there) and it worked like a champ for my Amp/Mic combo IRs. For more sophisticated and true stereo IRs, I still use the old trusty Altiverb 7.  The nice thing about AV7 is that they also create quite the library of unique IRs which are included with your license (and they are constantly releasing more and more of these).

The even have a series of famous studio IRs (usually, the big room, the drum room and the control room). As well as famous live venues from Opera houses to rock clubs.

It is quite the tool.

Thanks again for teaching me about Re Matrix, it was all I needed for the guitar cab IRs I like to use.
