Wow, after that sorta dreamy intro I wasn't expecting the song to kick in like that!   Completely rockin'...     Loved the section after the short break-down too.    Well now that I think about it, this song seems to have a few distinct sections!   And all completely solid and all fit together.     Good stuff.

Fantastic sound! You have a great voice dude! Reminds me a bit of our own Geddy Lee a bit. The mix is super in so many ways. Guitar tones and all-instruments-punch is A1. Very very interesting direction and 'gotcha's' throughout. You are a force to reckoned with! Hope you get signed to someone/some outfit!

hey FR, appreciate the comments!
geddy lee?!
heh, that's the first i've heard that....
i've always been a geddy fan, never minded his troll-like voice, i always thought he had big rock and roll balls for putting it out there like he did/does, and that's kinda hard for poosie singers to take.
the gotchas!!!
yes!!
that's what it's about for me,
i'm NOT writing sing along songs here...
i'm trying to tell stories thru song.

I didn't read any of the previous comments.

First, thanks for the guitar porn pix -- I can dig it.

The acoustic guitars are beautifully recorded -- and when the electric guitars kick in, as usual with your music I sit back and bask in the sound and expert playing. Great arrangement too. Oh, and the bass playing is fine stuff. No crits -- par for the course. :)

thanks jude, i've been working with the sonar for about 6 years or so now, i can crank stuff out quick at this point.
i don't have pro gear,
so there's always room for sonic improvement.
most of what you hear was captured with a $200 preamp going into a $175 sound card.

I hope you do very well with it! You certainly deserve it.

hey scotty,
i had to go back and listen to that section you mention..
that walking bass line, i can't remember where that came from,
but i do remember trying about 5 different approaches during those verses sections...
and that one seemed to make the most sense.

sometimes, i just sit down and play a bass line from beginning to end,
and that's it.
and other times, i'll listen to the playback and go "nah",
and end up doing that about a dozen times!!

LOL

i almost never punch in bass tracks, i like to play them at one go, top to bottom,
i don't know, it's just easier for me to maintain the groove i feel, if i don't punch anything in...

i DO punch in on guitar parts and vocals,
but that's basically because i write them on the fly, go back and learn the harmonies, and do those on the spot as well.

probably not the best way....

Bats,

On the technical/mix side I almost never have anything to say about your stuff.

Performance wise, ditto.

The only thing I can honestly say is that I almost never hum anything of yours twenty minutes later. In all honesty your choruses aren't very memorable to me.

But maybe that is not what you want to focus on?

Guitars and production are amazing.

No kidding here, great tones and great playing.

Funny how someone mentioned Geddy Lee... Not because I think you sing like him, but that last chord has a very nice "Hemispheres-ish" sound to it.

Great job!

Simply fantastic. Not many are equally good at playing arranging and mixing, even to master. I think you've nailed it for this genre. Some of the best of the best IMO.
