EW Play Help - Key Switches/Strummed Guitars
I just signed up to the Composer Cloud and I'm struggling to get 'realistic' strummed sounds out of the guitars. The library I'm (mostly) interested in using is the Gypsy Library. On the Gypsy product page there is a sound demo called Campanilleros - I'm trying to get the Flamenco Guitar strummed pattern similar to the demo. If anyone is up for the challenge of walking me through a bar of setting up the key switches, I would really appreciate it... I understand basically how to use the key switches, but I still can't get it anywhere near as good as the demo...

I have the Gypsy Library (bought it about 3 years ago). You can get the strummed sound using the C1 & D1 notes (they strum up and down). gives you that flurry of repeated notes per say.... I'm not at home so I won't speak on key switches (can come back later if need be).

Good deal.. I've kinda given up on my Gypsy prog. I use the Ilya Efimov Nylon now to do most of my guitar work (have his Steel Guitar as well). Much better tone and texture. Can also "gliss" up or down which makes for a more authentic performance. It also didn't help that when I bought Gypsy, I paid full price. The next week it went on sale (half off!)..

Yeah - I can't stand the sale thing that EWQL does. It's so dumb... I probably would have bought all these libraries outright if they had just priced them appropriately and left the prices alone... I do like the subscription based systems like Adobe uses. And I like that I'm getting in there now for $30 a month. If I don't get anywhere with Gypsy, I'll loose interest. I might loose interest regardless... Hopefully by Thanksgiving, I'll have a really good idea of what I like and I can hit the BOGO + 1/2 off deals at the same time - get the libraries I KNOW I'll use and stop the cloud. $30 is also a bit high for the cloud. $15 would have been a better price point. I would not even be thinking about getting out if it were 15...

It made sense for me - I picked up Silver editions of the HW Strings, Brass, and Woodwinds on one of their 1/2 off BOGO deals a couple of years ago. I wanted to upgrade to gold and get the percussion library. There were so many others that I wanted to try but was unsure about. I'm ok with paying that much for a month or two so I can play around with the libraries. If I like them all - I'll stick with the cloud. If I don't, I might buy the ones I like when a deal comes around if it will save me money. I paid 300 for Silver Strings, Brass, Woodwinds, Symphonic Choir....

I have been currently helping proof read a guide which help you setup drum maps as keyswitches specifically for PLAY which should be available soon. Ken has also made a vast number of drum maps for PLAY and his guide will explain how to use the articulations. So if your willing to wait the guide will be available soon - hopefully!
