I find the best way to say no is to say yes and then run away.

Or you could just:
a. ignore the issue and have another cuppa
b. say "No."

Sometimes I nod my head in the affirmative while saying no to lessen the negative impact.

Try it

Ok, I was following along just fine then you changed the topic asking us to try "it."  After scratching my, um, head, I remembered an old slogan that "Coke is it!" but I really don't want to start using illegal drugs!  Besides, what does coke have to do with negative impacts?

Oh, and another thing, since positive impacts tend to leave a dent, do negative impacts leave a bump?  Inquiring minds and all that...

OK, I'll take the OP seriously for a moment...

'How' you say "No" must surely depend heavily on the circumstances and context in which one is called upon to respond in the negative.

As an added complimication, it is occasionally acceptable to say "No" when one actually means "Yes".

For example, when a leddee of the opposite sex asks, "Does my bum look big in this?", the correct reply is always "No". But never try to justify that 'no'. To do so opens a ch1nk in one's armour that is sure to invite a stringent piercing akin to a misplaced 'Prince Albert' to one's jap's-eye.

If in doubt kids, remember, the drugs don't work - - -  just say 'no'.

Dear Craig

If in future you wish to use the phrase "To do so opens a ch1nk in one's armour that is sure to invite a stringent piercing akin to a misplaced 'Prince Albert' to one's jap's-eye", please feel free to do so.

Providing, of course, that you credit me with its conception in the appropriate manner, ya?
