"Split Function" Not Working Correctly?

Hello,
I can never get the option for "Split When Silent For Atleast x Measures".
I put in 1 measure, but it will not split my audio clip even with pure silence in between:

am I missing something?

Thank You!

Why not use the split tool, and just go down your time line and click, click, click wherever you want a split?  It's pretty quick.  Hope this helps.

    All the best,

Occasionally when I have overlapping clips on a track and i try to split a portion of the top track it splits all the layers below it as well. is there a setting to prevent this if i just want to split the top overlaying clip?

You can also try "Process > Apply Effect > Remove Silence".

    ^^ Easiest method.

Quick FYI - a clip is a "window" into the underlying audio file, so the above will make it "visually" different but not change the underlying audio file in any way. In order to change that (just in case audio size is another intent), you would need to do a "Save As.." and check "Create one file per clip."

I have never used that setting, but SONAR records to disk straight from the interface so would only recognize "gaps" after enough time has passed, but the "silence" is actually necessary to maintain timing when only one wav file is involved (which is the case with tracking).

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

What I usually do is apply "Lock Clip Data" to the clips in the other lanes.

How come Cakewalk misses this fundamental issue? I have the latest version of Sonar Platium 23.10.0 Build 14, but this issue this still persists. Cakewalk please look into this problem.  The only way to recover is to exit and restart the software. This is no good.
