Interesting one John, it has a little Christmas feel to it here and there, can't put my finger on why really. The military snare is a bit 'toy monkey' to my ears, but then again, it fits with the xylophone patterns. Nice pads throughout. What's the inspiration behind this one?

Thanks James, interesting "Toy Monkey" on the drums three lots of Superior drummer just kick and snare, I was trying to get that sense of a marching band.

As to the inspiration a friend suggested I write a tune for each month of the year, January - The Door and February - The Purification, have been done this is March - Feed or Fight.  Martius was an ancient God of Farming and War which was also the first month of the Roman calendar,  The months January and February did not exist in the Roman calendar the year ended at December and then there were 60 days belonging to no months.

Hi, John. This was indeed interesting / progressive It took me until the drums and the xylophone came in together before I "got this".
All the best.

Really good job. March indeed. Strong melodies executed with style. Nice variety of melodies. Sorry for lack of better commentary. Well done anyway.

I didn't read any other comments...

Very nicely mixed -- overall pleasing sound.  And, a good bit of drama in the way you arranged it.  I particularly like the 'breakdown' around 2:35 and the unsual timing leading out of that section. (My only crit and it's probably one you can't change without spending money is that the sound of the 'horns' are a bit rubbery and old-synth sounding.)  I enjoyed this -- always good to listen to something done with out of the box creativity :)

Thanks Allan, appreciate you taking the time to have a listen and comment.

That's because they are old Synths, two instances of Korg's MS-20 softsynth and one of Arturia's Prophet V softsynth.  I always think that part of the art of good synthesis is to have voices that are nearly but not quite right.

I also made a point of limiting the notes played by them to that of a standard Bugle.

Feed every time mate. Very different from your usual stuff - has a more cinematic feel. Is there more of a story behind the piece?
Mixed played and composed very well but it feels like I need either visuals or a more detailed story to understand the changes

Different?   Yes!
I liked it...  As Daryl pointed out is almost needs a visual counterpart, as though it was written for one.   I really liked the sense of space you've given it by bringing parts in and out, and really changing the feel.

Question: Is Martius also of the furry kind?

Nice work! This is an excellent march.

The only thing I would do would be to limit the instruments to those in a marching band or a concert band.

Really nice!!!

Daryl, not surprised about the feed every time thanks for the kind words.

Steve thanks for taking the time to have a listen and comment, visuals yes I suppose it could work, now all I need is someone to make the film and say I know just the sound track .  As for Martius a Roman name the month of March derived from Mars.

Robert,  first thanks for the listen and comment glad you enjoyed.  In some ways I did limit the march sections to instruments associated with marching bands, Bugle/trumpet snare, bass drum and bells/chimes.  But I also wanted a sort of pastoral element hence to pad/strings.
