Copy Midi Instument

Hi
I have a question about copy instrument/midi channel, vst. Like copy a track. I know there is a clone track option, but that is not at all what I am looking for. I just want the same setup for a instrument.

My issue is that I use a drum programmer that Randomize the drum setup, and it never randomizes the same  . Of course I could get in to do this manually when I got the drum sound I wants, but would save me of maybe 1 hour to just copy the instrument.

I am not into copying the track itself (That is simple), but rather the instrument with the same setup. Must have been something I overlooked, cause I am surprised if it is not into Sonars workflow.

If anyone knows, please let me know.

Save the instrument setup as a preset, and load the preset after inserting a new instance of the VSTi.

Just bring the audio and midi tracks connected to the synth into focus, and export as a Track Template.

Then, in a new project, you can insert from a Track Template and bring in the one you had created.  It will insert the audio and midi tracks, as well as insert an instance of the soft-synth and its settings.

I create Track Templates all the time, for various drum kits I end up using or creating, and it brings in a whole track folder with 2 midi tracks for the drums (1 is for using as a click, and the other is the real midi track for the drum data), along with separate audio tracks for each kit piece, mapped back to the separate audio output channels in the drum synth for each kit piece, along with loading up the correct kit, and setting all the basic levels.  It even gives me all of the buses I added into the track template, for Toms, Cymbals, Parallel Compression, etc.)

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the help  .

Why did I not think of that to just save the template inside the plugin. LOL. Problem solved. Sometimes the fix is just so easy that it gets overlooked completely.

I will look into your way as well Mister Bone. But right now it was the first fix that was the most easy going and what I was looking for. Thanks again!

Glad to help. Track templates are a good solution as well, especially if using a synth with more than one output.
