Show the Suffix for the Two z3ta+ Audio FX

Currently, there are two different ways to use the z3ta+ as an effect, which I covered in recent "Friday's Tip of the Week" entries. One .dll is called z3ta+_fx (only the effects section is enabled) and the other is z3ta+_fx2 (which lets you also use the filter and amp sections). But if you look in the browser, you don't see the suffix so both say z3ta+, unless you create a plug-in layout that includes them so you can rename them. I'd like to see the full .dll name displayed.

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

To display dll names modify the VSTPlugInNameFormat value in Preferences > File > Initialization File

Read about the variable here http://www.cakewalk.com/D...;help=INI_Files.4.html

Info about the Initialization File screen is here http://www.cakewalk.com/D...age=3&help=0x200FE. Initialization File is an advanced option. To see this option make the the Advanced radio button is selected at the bottom of the Preferences dialog.

VSTPlugInNameFormat=<0 - 3> Integer
Default: 0
This variable specifies how VST plug-in names are formatted in the Browser, FX Rack context menus, and anywhere else VST plug-in names are displayed. The values are as follows:
0 = VST Name
1 = DLL Name
2 = VST Name (DLL Name)
3 = DLL Name (VST Name)

This works, but...

When set to "1", you'll get one LONG list of WaveShell listings, all the same.

I switched to "2". That adds a lot of text, but at least the Wave's VST Names are listed first, alphabetically.

Edit: If you click on "Apply" in the Preferences editor after setting/changing the variable, you don't need to restart SONAR. At least I didn't.

Edit 2: If you don't have any Waves stuff installed, "1" might be a better option, but I can't verify that.

In the specific case of z3ta+, there must be a way to embed the appropriate VST name in the plug-in dlls at compile time. This would allow them to use the default VSTPlugInNameFormat setting and display unique names.

I would be surprised if the Waves issue could not be handled as a special case when the VSTPlugInNameFormat is set to 1. I do not recall a request submitted about it.
